The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave precise instructions for dealing with nightmares: spit lightly three times to the left, seek refuge with Allah from Shaytan’s evil, change sleeping sides, and never tell the nightmare to anyone. According to Ibn Sirin, nightmares should not be interpreted like true dreams as they carry no divine message. Al-Nabulsi confirms that nightmares come from Shaytan and recommends reciting Ayat al-Kursi and protective surahs. Scholars insist that nightmares should provoke neither despair nor superstition but should be considered a test from Shaytan from which Allah protects His servants.
